A Start to the New Year

A.D.A.P.T. Community Meeting
Sat., Jan. 2nd at 9:00 AM via Zoom

On January 2nd, start out the new year with a workshop on home safety basics. To promote preparedness and resilience, we will be hosting a virtual panel of experts, including a practicing physician and the Menlo Park Fire Marshal/Division Chief, to present and answer your questions.

Meeting Agenda:
  • Welcome
  • Updates from Atherton Police Department and A.D.A.P.T.
  • Expert Panel on Home Safety
  • Q&A
We recognize that some large-scale disasters are caused by small preventable incidents--like fires. We want to make sure you are armed with digestible and easy-to-remember tips about: fire prevention and suppression, basic first aid, necessary first aid home supplies, and how to communicate with your local safety officials.

Our subject matter experts, Dr Paul Jemelian and MPFPD Fire Marshal/Division Chief, Jon Johnston, will stay on until 10:15am to make sure your questions are answered. We look forward to seeing you there, but rest assured that we will record and upload this seminar in case you can't join.
Dr. Paul Jemelian
MPFPD Fire Marshal/Division Chief Jon Johnston

Volunteer Spotlight

Dr. Jemelian has been involved with Atherton emergency response programs for over 20 years. His experience as a Ham radio operator and Menlo Fire CERT volunteer originally opened the door into working with the disaster group. This led to projects such as the West Atherton Fire/Dam Breach Siren, the Police Command communications vehicle, and the Medical trailer.

Outside of ADAPT, Dr. Jemelian works at a local medical group practice in person, and is married to Lianne who is the District school nurse directly involved directly with the COVID crisis working as logistics and operations keeping our local schools open and operational. They have three sons aged 11-17.

“The beauty and strength of the ADAPT group is the strong and sincere commitment and skill set of its members. Without the core dedication of our members and the gracious support of the board, the Town Council and the Police Chief, the ADAPT group would not be what it is today: a very positive force and reflection of our community commitment.” - Dr. Paul Jemelian, MD
